Alex is the greatest guy, medical doctor with and an astute entrepreneure. He's one of the most honest people you'll find in the business. Extremely helpful and no nonesense, what he tells you is what it is. Reservations are made directly with owner (he's the co-owner), so prices are very competitive. He'll give you any sort of advice, make reservations, pick up your girl at the train station, bring her to the airport, etc. P.S. don't forget to ask him what he thinks about your woman, so many times he's seen it all and trust me he's spot on. I used the services of WWW.ukrainefare.com . i used their so called "Kiev superior" this was very poor quality Apartment-I would now NEVER recommend UKRAINFARE.COM. The apartment was scruffy shabby . The lino on the floor was oldy tatty. No carpets. Dirt old dusty microwave.Old cooker a relic from the communist era that had to be sparked lighted by matchsticks. The kettle was old and also had to be placed on the cooker and of course the gas sparked by matchsticks to heat it. but the worst this was the BUGS creepy crawlies around the sink work surface that would appear at regular intervals. Sounds like you paid under $70. I have had no problems with apts other than change in apts due to water leaks. You should have called Alla and made her aware of your complaints. I have stayed with ukrainefare several times, no problem. You didn't mention the number or price paid. I usually pay $80 and up to get nicer apt. I will be in Kiev in May, staying with ukrainefare. I looked at a couple other sites I deal with and what you paid for your 3 room apt was way cheaper than the other sites, some don't even offer a 2bedroom. For $10 more per night you could have had a nice deluxe apt, one I stayed in before. Your apt was cheapest around...I try to get one priced in the middle for the size. Unfortunately it was not very desireable. When you pay more you get more.
